Newsletter for May – June 2012
May 11th, 2012 by Denise GuthrieDear Parents,
We have begun the final short term plans for each room, as we will then begin reports, transitions and visits as many of our children are on the move up and outwards. It is always a very emotional time for all and we are very proud of our children who will be graduating to primary. Each and everyone have achieved so much and ready to fly our nest. We are so looking forward to the Raindrops who will move gradually next door, already we notice the ease and confidence with which this happening.
In the Raindrops
The group are embarking on the theme ‘Topsy and Tim go camping’. The children will be discussing holidays, countries, travel, flags, cuisine and much more. If you are going on any holidays could you please send us a postcard even if it’s just to Largs. You could also bring us in some of your snaps!
We have a new friend in the nursery ‘Foxy’ a furry fox. We would like to send him home with each child over the coming weeks and fill his little diary with what you have been up to, maybe a couple of photos. This would be much appreciated.
With the help of Marie-Helene we will develop our appreciation of all things French. We will be having some picnics with the children. The names will be posted on the door with a little food to bring and share over the coming weeks. Merci!
We will also be talking about the importance of sun cream and sun glasses and if we ever get a sunny day we will be out there. Remember to keep the red bags topped up with sensible changes of clothing as we will be playing in the water.
That’s it from the Raindrops…
In the Rainbows
We are looking at the seasonal changes and time. We are particularly interested in telling the clock time and we are delighted to see many children wearing watches to nursery. The children are looking at the numbers 52, 12, 7, and 24.
We are very aware that preparations for new schools are upon us, many have already made appointments to visit the nursery over the coming weeks to begin our transitions. We will post this information on the door so you know whose coming.
The children continue to enjoy our numeracy and language work. Many of the children are writing and reading it’s very exciting for them. We are so grateful to Kieran and his woodwork lessons the children are drilling and hammering each week. We as adults in the room are seeing very good behaviour by our children and Debbie has created a ‘Kindness Tree’ for children to place a photo of a friend who has carried out a kind deed in the room. It most certainly is feels a place of heightened activities and again we would always welcome your thoughts and support if you would like to come and share learning experiences with us.
On Thursday Julia Lapthorn will come to help us with ideas for the Olympic Games.
